‘All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and so gorgeous at the end.’ – Robin Sharma
If you were asked, ‘Tell me one big way how walking the Camino de Santiago and in the years after changed your life, what would you say?’
I look back and I can now see that walking my first Camino in 2011 represented the beginning of an ever continuing inner journey that has, over time, revealed a more authentic ‘me’. I have also learned how to live a ‘richer’ way of life. My ‘Call’ to the Camino was one of a screaming inner voice that kept saying, ‘there must be more to life than this’. What this ‘more’ was, I didn’t know. Now, I do. Since 2011, I let go of the need to have all the answers before leaping into the unknown. I learned to trust and be patient allowing my life to unfold exactly as it must. And in the process, I discovered a real freedom of knowing that I don’t have to be anyone other than who I know myself to truly be.
Did your life change in the year(s) following your Camino journey? Perhaps you:
Found new meaning and purpose
Turned your world upside down for better or for worse
Deepened relationships in unimaginable ways
Began to serve others and found a whole new life
Feel so centered and at peace today that you no longer can remember the ‘old’ you and the ‘old’ life.
