‘To find your own way is to follow your bliss. This involves analysis, watching yourself and seeing where real deep bliss is – not the quick little excitement, but the real deep, life-fulfilling bliss.’ – Joseph Campbell
Can blisters be a pathway to bliss?
I’ve often wondered why pilgrims hobbling along in so much pain continue to walk when it’s so much easier to stop walking and let the blister heal. Maybe blister suffering does leads to finding some form of bliss:
you get to awaken to your body and its real needs
you discover a very real purpose that keeps you walking when it might be so much easier, and better, to stop
you discover you’re not alone in times of struggle; the ‘divine’ finds a way to help you on your way.
What does ‘Following My Bliss’ on Camino mean for you? Perhaps it occurred:
During or after a moment of suffering
When you found yourself in a state of flow
You discovered your ‘impossible’ had just become ‘possible’
When you felt ‘at one with the world’
Upon the return home and fully recognising what your Camino experience means for you.
